Claremont serial killer: Bradley Robert Edwards found guilty in Perth trial

When many Australians hear of the Western Australian suburb “Claremont” its synonymous with “serial killer”. But for me it was where I grew up.

Dubbed by the media as ‘The Claremont Serial Killer’- Bradley Robert Edwards learnt his fate today (September 24) for the murders of three young Perth women in the 1990’s.

The self-confessed “bogeyman” was convicted of murdering childcare worker Jane Rimmer, 23, in 1996 and solicitor Ciara Glennon, 27, in 1997.

However, the former Telstra technician was acquitted by WA Supreme Court Justice Stephen Hall for the murder of secretary Sarah Spiers, 18, whose remains have never been found.

Three young women with their whole lives ahead of them – Sarah Spiers, Jane Rimmer and Ciara Glennon – all similar-looking and in the prime of their youth aged 18 – 27, were taken from WA’s Claremont entertainment precinct in the space of 15 months in the mid-1990s.
